Maitreya Festival 2008 is once again ready for another explosion of art, music, and an atmosphere created by the gathering of brothers and sisters from Australia and around the globe for 4 magical days in summer. Since the beginning of time, people have gathered under the sun and the stars to celebrate the unbridled spirit that runs through everything around us, Maitreya Festival continues the party and hopes to bring new understanding to all who involve themselves and join us for this years festival.

The festival includes a $10,000 no boundaries, inter galactic art prize, 4 stages of Australia's best local music lineup, plus performances from 9 amazing international acts, mind body spirit and sustainable culture symposiums, beautiful outdoor riverside venue, nightly cinema under the stars, international traders market, camping on site or quality accommodation nearby, and the most amazing people in the world, in the one spot, for four wonderful days in summer, as a bonus, this year the event is held on a long weekend so plenty of time to relax and recover before getting back to reality!

Maitreya Location


Situated 104 km N/East of Melbourne (1.5 hrs by car), on the Maroondah Highway between the Buxton and Taggerty townships and at the foot of the stunning Mount Cathedral Ranges.
PLEASE TAKE CARE IF YOU ARE DRIVING TO AND FROM THE FESTIVAL, THE BLACK SPUR IS A VERY WINDY AND STEEP ROAD.
The settlement can also be reached by the Alexandra/Eildon bus from Spencer St. Station, Melbourne. It's a beautiful 2.5 hrs drive, just ask the bus driver to drop you off at the front gate.

Cathedral Ranges - Pick one of the many walks up the mountain ranging from easy to very hard
Blueberry Winery - Take in afternoon tea and enjoy the produce
Trout Farms - Try one of several and be sure to catch a fish and bring it back to cook in the campfire coals
Steavenson Falls - Try to visit at night when the falls are illuminated and provide a unique experience
Brunos Sculpture Gardens - One of a kind and a "must-see"
Horse Riding - Close by
Fishing - Many close by rivers and of course Eildon awaits
Bush Trails - Either on foot or by 4 wheel drive, there is ready access to the National Parks nearby
Swimming - Either in a local river or the nearby Marysville Pool
Marysville - A beautiful tourist destination with many features just down the road.
