Art is…….. ……………….well, u tell us!

Creativity runs through all of us and is just waiting to get out! Without boundaries art can be almost anything your heart and minds desire, a feather attached to a hat, some paint splattered on an old manikin, your favorite washing line with stylized pegs, an assortment of potato men! Wear your funkiest clothes, dance your most craziest dance, walk your most weirdest walk, make your camp the biggest step into another world around, tell people your funniest stories, and follow any and every creative instinct you have over the weekend, roll in the mud, draw in the sand, hug a stranger, join a workshop and just feel your inner artist explode, your in the perfect place for an art experience you will never forget!

We also really really want everyone to create something for the festival, to contribute to the unfolding reality of the place, anything, to bring together the most amazing temporary art gallery ever assembled! Absent of genres, absent of boxes, but full of the style and originality we know makes you all u!

$2000 Arts Prize

As a reward for attending with your amazing artworks we will offer 4 cash prizes of $500 each that will be handed out on the Monday of the event. Our panel of judges will award prizes to the most original works, that push the boundaries of what is expected!

Entry is available on the day, but we would love you to tell us what your planning in advance.

Artists in residence at the festival

Live art creation, accompanied by live musical creation, provides entertainment that is at the cutting edge of what is possible at festivals around the world today. Creativity is taken to a higher level on both sides, and inspires onlookers as they are taken on a journey of sight and sound!

This year Maitreya will focus on providing this experience over the entire weekend, with artists from around the country and abroad creating amazing works live at the event. Expect to see everything from oil paintings, to intricate installations, massive graffiti, to sand mandalas, digital designs and live video mixing.
